Energy production description

Electricity, district heat and district cooling

Helsingin Energia publishes an annual energy production description on the air load of produced and transmitted kilowatt-hours. The unit used is milligram or gram of material per kilowatt-hour.

Calculation of airborne load

The airborne load is calculated by taking into account the emissions from Helsingin Energia’s power plants and an estimate on the emissions of power plant shares in 2009, and dividing the amount with the total energy sold during the year. In the calculation of the amount of energy of electricity, heat and cooling internal use and transmission losses in their production are taken into account.

Year 2010 Helsingin Energia's specific emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) were 260 g/kWh with the corresponding numerical value being 400 in the reference year of 1990.
