Helsingin Energia’s environmental management systems
Helsingin Energia’s tools for environmental impact management are the ISO 14001 environmental management system for all its power plants, environmental handbooks for business operations, and the Green Office environmental criteria for all its office premises.
Certified systems
The environmental management systems for the Hanasaari, Salmisaari and Vuosaari power plants have been certified in compliance with the international ISO 14001 standard. The quality system for the electrical laboratory has been certified to comply with the ISO 9001 standard.
Green Office
We develop environmental management systems for offices in accordance with the Green Office programme of the World Wide Fund for Nature. In 2006, all of our offices were covered by the Green Office system. The objective of Green Office is to encourage employees to everyday eco deeds and to save the environment and costs.
The environmental management programme of the offices within the scope of Helsingin Energia’s Green Office consists of seven subject entities: energy saving, reduction of waste, increased recovery of waste, improved recovery of problem waste, taking environmental aspects into account in purchases, environmentally friendly travel, and increased environmental awareness among employees.
A key part of the environmental management systems of Helsingin Energia is the constant training of employees, as well as internal communication and dialogue on environmental issues. At Helsingin Energia, all employees are welcome to participate in the development of environmental activities.
