Getting connected to the electricity network
Properties located in the Helsinki region can be connected to Helen Sähköverkko Oy’s distribution network. Single apartments cannot be separately connected to the network. Helen Sähköverkko Oy and the connecting party conclude a connection contract in writing, and the contract enters into force as soon as both parties have signed it.
Helen Sähköverkko Oy uses connection fees to construct the street section of the connection line. The connecting party can have the section of the connection line to be built on the plot constructed by a subcontractor of Helen Sähköverkko Oy or some other contractor.
The connecting party shall deliver the signed connection contract to Helen Sähköverkko Oy and agree with a person specified in the connection contract on a date for making the electrical connection at least a month before the desired connection date. A month is counted from the date of entry of Helen Sähköverkko Oy. Any changes must be agreed on at least two weeks before the agreed connection date.
Medium or low-voltage connection?
If the connection power is high, a medium-voltage connection is a financially justified alternative. The total costs are essentially affected by the lower transmission costs of a medium-voltage connection. In practice, the examination limit for the size of the main fuse is around 800 A (0.4 kV), but it pays to examine the matter case by case, in cooperation with one’s own electrical designer and Helen Sähköverkko Oy’s connection service
The medium-voltage connection has no real connection line, but the connection fee covers cabling to the equipment of the connecting party. The cabling route to be built on the plot shall be constructed by the connecting party at his/her expense according to directions provided by Helen Sähköverkko Oy
