Offshore wind farms as a joint venture with Helsingin Energia
Electricity procurement by Etelä-Pohjanmaan Voima Oy is based on diverse energy sources. Of the primary energy sources, the company utilises uranium, coal, peat, biofuels, hydropower, as well as natural gas and oil. During the year under review, Helsingin Energia acquired hydro and nuclear power through Etelä-Pohjanmaan Voima Oy.
Etelä-Pohjanmaan Voima Oy and Helsingin Energia established a joint venture, Suomen Merituuli Oy, in order to build an offshore wind farm of a considerable size (500-1,000 MW) in Finland. In the year under review, the company made a reservation for building offshore wind farms in the Gulf of Finland and the Gulf of Bothnia.
