Teollisuuden Voima Oyj
Top-class production and availability of plants
The production and availability of the Olkiluoto plants of Teollisuuden Voima Oyj were of extremely high standard during the year under review. The total amount of electricity generated by the Olkiluoto power plants was 14,380 GWh in 2008, corresponding to about 17% of the electricity consumed in Finland. Together with the Meri-Pori coal-fired power plant share, its electricity generation totalled 15,197 GWh last year.
The company's turnover in 2008 amounted to EUR 245 million and its equity ratio was 33.1%.
The year was characterised by the progress in the Olkiluoto 3 construction project and the challenges with respect to its schedule. According to the plant supplier's estimate, the completion of OL3 will be postponed until June 2012.
On 25 April 2008, TVO submitted to the Government an application for a decision-in-principle on the construction of a fourth nuclear power plant unit (OL4) at Olkiluoto. The statement of the Ministry of Employment and the Economy on the environmental impact assessment report of the project (EIA report) was obtained in June.
2 September 2008 marked the thirtieth anniversary of nuclear power generation at Olkiluoto.
