About our employees

At the end of 2007, Helsingin Energia had 1,245 employees.

The number of employees of the entire Helen Group has shown a slight decline: in 2003, we had a total of 1,527 employees whereas the number was 1,452 in 2006 and 1,442 at the end of last year.

Of the employees, 73.3% were men and 26.7% were women at the end of 2007. The distribution of men and women has remained more or less the same in the past few years. The average age of all employees was 45.9 years at the end of last year.

One-third of technical employees were either engineers or had a degree in engineering or technology; 47% had a vocational or similar qualification. Of the entire personnel, 38% had a degree and 32% had a certificate of secondary education.

Almost half of the training conducted in 2007 was in-house training, totalling 2,340 training days. In internal training, the share of permit training related to occupational safety was 10% and the share of induction training for new employees was 6%. Managerial and leadership training accounted for 6%. The share of language training was 2%.

At Helsingin Energia, the average period of service is 17.1 years. Of all permanent employees, 24 have served the company for 40 years continuously.
