For over a century, we have brought light and heat to Helsinki residents. We are known as a trailblazer in the energy sector,
as one of the most reliable energy companies in the world.

Today we are facing the biggest challenge of our history; the entire world needs pioneers to tackle climate change challenges and to implement the green transition. We have one goal. We will be a carbon-neutral energy company in 2030. For the sake of all of us.

Read our story below.

Towards the future – together with our customers

Showing the way ahead

We seek solutions of the new energy era from the depths of the sea and the bowels of the earth, from the air, and from waste heat. We utilise digitalisation and data in order to optimise productivity and efficiency in a way that is beneficial for our customers and the entire society.

We currently have 20 projects that promote carbon neutrality. We are also the first Finnish energy company to commit to the 1.5 degree target according to the Paris Agreement. We have set the emissions reduction accordingly, and our target is currently in the process of being approved by the Science Based Target organisation.

With over a century’s experience

Electricity and heat are the cornerstones of a well-functioning society. For over 100 years, Helen has had the task of ensuring that the wheels keep turning under all circumstances. Today, more than 600,000 electricity consumer customers put their trust in us. Our security of electricity and district heat supply leads the world, and our energy production and distribution have won global awards.

We boldly try out new ideas. One solution at a time, we pave the way to a new, sustainable energy future. We installed Finland’s first public EV charging point in Runeberginkatu in Helsinki, we build solar and wind farms, we are planning/building the first geothermal heating plant in Helsinki, and we recycle waste heat in the Katri Vala heating and cooling plant, which is among the largest in the world.

We help our customers in the green transition

We are committed to being a carbon-neutral energy company in 2030. We cannot reach this target on our own, but can do it together with our customers. Together we build new energy solutions to harness, e.g. waste heat and roof spaces. We help our customers in the green transition and make the opportunities of the new energy era available to all.

We develop a smarter carbon-neutral energy system that enables everyone to produce, use and save energy while looking after the environment.
