The Extraordinary General Meeting of Helen Ltd decided on the composition of the Board of Directors and on the acquisition of the business operations of Helsingin Energia public utility. Helsingin Energia’s current business operations (excluding outdoor lighting) will transfer to Helen Ltd on 1 January 2015.

As from 1 January 2015, the Helsingin Energia public utility will become Helen Ltd. The company’s operations and services will remain unchanged, and no action is required on the customers' part. The change is based on the City of Helsinki’s decision to incorporate the Helsingin Energia public utility.

Helsingin Energia and Vapo agree on Finland's largest pellet deliveries

Helsingin Energia and Vapo have agreed on wood pellet deliveries to the Salmisaari and Hanasaari combined heat and power (CHP) plants. The delivery amounts are significant on the Finnish scale. Pellets are used for replacing imported coal.

Helsingin Energia warning of misleading marketing

Helsingin Energia has continued to receive concerned messages from it customers, who have been targets of electricity sales calls citing e.g. ‘collaboration with Helsingin Energia’. This is a case of misleading marketing and spreading incorrect information. The customers say that the phone calls they have felt to be misleading have mostly come from Suomen Energiayhtiö.

Businesses and households can act as power reserve

Businesses and households can act as power reserve

 Helsingin Energia is the first energy company in Finland to offer a demand response service for electricity to businesses and communities. Users of the service receive compensation for allowing the power to be cut from electric equipment of their choice in fault situations. This way, they act as a disturbance reserve for Finland’s power grid. A corresponding pilot project with households has also been launched.
