Helen is planning a pellet heating plant in Patola

Helen is investigating the possibility of building a bioenergy heating plant in the Patola district of Helsinki on a heating plant site used by Helen. The heating plant planned for Patola will require a revision of the town plan to enable construction of a second plant at the current site.

Public open evening on environmental impacts of Tattarisuo bioenergy heating plant on Tuesday 27 November 2018

Helen is investigating the possibility of constructing a bioenergy heating plant in Tattarisuo, Helsinki. In November, the Uusimaa Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment (ELY) is organising a public open evening to disseminate the results of the environmental impact assessment.

Helen Group's net sales rose, thanks to successful measures in the electricity wholesale market. The number of Helen's customers continued to grow, and cooling sales showed a dramatic increase. Oil tank in the Lassila heating plant to be replaced

The Lassila heating plant, which safeguards heat supplies to North Helsinki, will undergo modifications to meet the EU's new emission limit requirements. The replacement of the oil tank at the heating plant will start in early November. After the oil tank replacement has been completed, the natural gas burners in two boilers in the heating plant will also be replaced.

Helen is preparing to replace coal in energy production. The Government’s legislative proposal to ban coal, presented today, will accelerate the investment decisions, but it will also prevent utilisation of new, developing technologies.

The Finnish energy company Helen was among the world's top brands in the international energy sector CHARGE branding contest in Reykjavik, Iceland. Helen won an award as one of the five top energy brands in the well-known brands category.

Residents' survey on environmental impacts of Tattarisuo bioenergy heating plant opens

Helen is investigating the possibility of constructing a bioenergy heating plant in Tattarisuo, Helsinki. As part of the environmental impact assessment of the plant, a residents' survey is conducted in September, to investigate the effects of the bioenergy heating plant on the environment and people.

Record volumes of solar power from Helen’s power plants

This year, record volumes of solar energy were obtained from Helen's own solar power plants at Kivikko and Suvilahti from March onwards. May was the most productive month in the solar power plants over many years.

New underground heating and cooling plant utilises waste heat

Helen's underground heating and cooling plant located under the Esplanade Park has been completed, and trial operations have started. The large heat pumps produce both district heat and district cooling. They recover a significant amount of excess heat from properties for utilisation in heat production.
