Winter price of district heat will fall

The energy price of Helsinki’s district heat for the winter period will fall on 1 November 2013 in comparison with the previous two winter price periods.

The energy fee including tax will fall by about 3.2% compared with the previous winter price valid in March–April 2013. After the discount, the price will be €52.45/MWh (incl. 24% VAT).

The most significant reason for the price fall is the reduction in the production costs of energy-efficient cogeneration, which is used in the production of district heat. The price of Helsingin Energia’s district heat is cost-reflective and the energy price trend is stable. District heat in Helsinki has a more favourable price than the average price in Finland.

District heat energy fee 1 November – 31 December 2013 (winter price period):

Winter price excluding tax €42.30/MWh

Winter price including tax €52.45/MWh

District heat prices are adjusted four times a year. The next energy price adjustment will take place on 1 January 2014.
