
Alterations to a connection
All orders for alterations to district heating and cooling connections must be submitted via the electronic service. Alterations include disconnecting or terminating district heating and cooling connections, and making changes to the district heat metering unit or pipes. If you have any questions about alterations, please send an email to klmuutostyot@helen.fi.
Place an order for the alteration of the metering unit or pipes of district heating or cooling if you want to move the metering unit or pipes or reduce or increase the DN sizes of the metring unit or pipes. Please contact us at least three months before the work is scheduled to begin.
Please have the HVAC designer for the property send the plans for the alteration work to us via our document uploading service. Based on the plans, we will prepare an offer on the implementation of the alterations.
If new customer equipment for district heating or cooling is needed at your property, the customer will be responsible for acquiring the equipment and having it installed by a heating contractor approved by Helen.
Order an alteration to a district heating connection
Place an order for disconnection if the property will be demolished and replaced by a new property connected to district heating or cooling, or if temporary disconnection is necessary due to an active construction site. Demolition work on the property must not begin before the district heating or cooling connection has been safely disconnected. The period of notice and the planning of the disconnection work begins when the customer has accepted the offer in Helen's electronic service. Disconnection work includes the excavation permit, suspension of use, picking up the meter, excavation and pipe work, insulating the point of disconnection, and backfilling, for example. Please contact us at least three months before the work is scheduled to begin. If you have just purchased the property, remember to also make a change of ownership for the district heating or cooling contract.

Place an order for temporary disconnection
Place an order for the termination of your district heating or cooling connection if you wish to terminate the connection. Termination requires disconnection work on the connection. Please contact us well in advance of the desired termination date. The period of notice for a heating contract is six months. For consumer customers, the period of notice is one month. The period of notice and the planning of the disconnection work begins when the customer has accepted the offer in Helen's electronic service. The delivery time for disconnection work is three months. The customer will be charged the costs incurred from the disconnection work. Disconnection work on a district heat connection includes the excavation permit, suspension of use, picking up the meter, excavation and pipe work, insulating the point of disconnection, and backfilling, for example.

A heating or cooling connection is transferred to a new owner by submitting a notification of the transfer of the connection via Helen’s customer service. Enclose a handover document or a copy of the deed of sale mentioning the transfer of the heating or cooling connection to the notification. A heating or cooling contract is not assigned automatically in connection with the handover of a property.
