Renewed Helen Charging: Helen's public EV charging network will become part of Oma Helen during April

We will gradually transition over 650 Helen’s public charging points into Oma Helen app throughout April. This change aims to streamline the customer experience and enables Helen's customers to manage their charging needs through Oma Helen app. As part of this transition, the previous Virta app will no longer be operational at Helen's public charging points. However, the use of Helen's charging points at businesses and housing companies will continue to be managed through the Virta app.

Monitor the migration of charging points to Oma Helen app

Charging points are transferred from Virta app to Oma Helen app in following stages:

  • Week 16: charging points located in the Helsinki metropolitan area and south of Tampere
  • Week 17: charging points located those north of Tampere

Download Oma Helen app from your app store to stay updated on the status of your nearest station via the Oma Helen map view. In Oma Helen, you can also access real-time information on charging point power levels and pricing, as well as contact details for Helen Charging customer service.

If you're a Helen electricity customer, you'll also find comprehensive information on your contract and energy usage in Oma Helen. Going forward, you can conveniently manage all your energy-related matters through Oma Helen at your convenience.

How to charge using Oma Helen app at Helen's public charging stations

⚡ Download Oma Helen app from your app store and register as a user

⚡ Activate your Helen Charging user account from the "Charging" section in the submenu

⚡ Add a payment card during activation or from the submenu under More > Charging > Payment card

⚡ If you have a Helen RFID charging tag, you can add it to Oma Helen and continue using it for charging in the future. Alternatively, you can order a new charging tag through Oma Helen. The first charging tag is free of charge

The up-to-date pricing for all Helen public charging stations can be found in the Oma Helen app.

  • Helsinki city center zone 1: €2 per hour + €0.29 per kWh
  • Helsinki city center zone 2: €1 per hour + €0.29 per kWh
    • No time-based charges between 9 PM and 7 AM
    • Time-based charges applies between 7 AM and 9 PM, no matter when the charging was started.
  • The rest of Helsinki and other regions in Finland: €0.36 per kWh + €1/h after the first three hours
    • No time-based charges between 9 PM and 7 AM 
    • Time-based charges applies between 7 AM and 9 PM, no matter when the charging was started
    • The free period is calculated from the beginning of the charging event, regardless of the start time.

Charging points located in the Helsinki metropolitan area and south of Tampere will be moved in week 16, followed by those north of Tampere in week 17. During April 2024, Helen's public charging points will transition from Virta app to Oma Helen app. In the future, you'll be able to charge your electric vehicle at Helen's public charging points using either Oma Helen app or Helen's RFID charging tag. To continue accessing Helen's growing public charging network, download Oma Helen from your app store and register as a customer. Stay updated on the transition progress through the map view in Oma Helen app. Following the transition, you can still use the Virta app for charging at other service providers' charging stations.

If you use Helen's private charging points at businesses and housing companies, you can continue to charge your electric vehicle through the Virta app.
