Aleksi Christmas Street is lit up with LEDs

Aleksanterinkatu will be transformed into a Christmas Street on Sunday, 24 November 2013, when its Christmas lights will be switched on for the 65th time. The little ones of the family are welcome on the Helsingin Energia merry-go-round.

The street will be lit up with 6,500 LED lamps, which save energy by over 80 per cent compared with incandescent lamps.

The Christmas Street will be opened at 1 pm and the Christmas lights switch-on ceremony will take place at 3 pm. The Aleksanterinkatu Christmas lights are organised by Helsingin Energia in partnership with Helsinki City Markkinointi (HCM). HCM is an association for retailers and property owners in Helsinki city centre, seeking to liven up and increase the appeal of Helsinki city centre.
