Helsingin Energia recruiting over a hundred summer workers

Helsingin Energia is again recruiting a fair number of temporary employees for the coming summer. Around a hundred summer workers are taken on every year, but this year the number will be higher.

The likely candidates are students at various levels of education and training wanted for a variety of jobs, such as sales assistants, installation and maintenance duties, customer service, financial administration, warehouse and cleaning staff. Most of the recruitment is for over 18s, but some younger people are also wanted.

Summer workersRecruitment is increased this year mainly for energy production maintenance work. The number of summer workers is affected by the extent of annual maintenance carried out in summer.

“The coming summer will see a large modernisation project in conjunction with the annual overhaul at the Salmisaari power plant. Many summer workers in the power, automation and machine maintenance sections will be taken on,” says Development Engineer Maija Virta from HelenService.

Temporary workers are not only a summer resource, but also an important investment in the future.

“We deem it important to support young people’s occupational skills. As well as summer jobs, we offer young people places for thesis projects and work experience placements. A summer job has been the start of many a Helen employee’s career,” says Johanna Aholainen, Head of HR.

Helsingin Energia collaborates in many ways with various educational institutions and student organisations. This year, the Energy Student of the Year will be selected for the first time by Helsingin Energia, together with Universum. One of the prizes for the winner is a trip to attend a seminar in Berlin.
