Helen renewed its organisational structure and appointed a new management group as of 1 january 2024

Along with its new strategy, Helen adopted an organisational structure based on business units that are accountable for their results and on functions that support the business units. The new Management Group started its work on 1 January 2024. 

In late 2023, we published our new strategy aimed at making our energy production carbon neutral by 2030. In addition, we plan to phase out combustion-based energy production by 2040. The core aspects of our strategy are the green transition, flexibility and profitability. 

Along with the new strategy, we adopted an organisational structure based on business units that are accountable for their results and Group functions that support the business units. 

– Our goal has been to create an organisational structure that supports the implementation of our new “Green flexibility” strategy. We are building Helen into a more competitive company as well as a better place to work for all Helen employees,” says CEO Olli Sirkka. 

The goal of the Customers and services business is to build the strongest customer relationships in the market. The business encompasses sales, customer service, customer experience, marketing and electricity-related service development and management.

Power generation and energy portfolio management develops the generation of power and operates it profitably. The aim of portfolio management is to balance Helen’s weather-dependent portfolio and create a competitive advantage. The business encompasses the management of power generation capacity, the Group’s energy optimisation, trading in derivative and physical wholesale markets and energy control room services.  

The goal of the Heating and cooling business is to phase out combustion-based energy production. The business encompasses the heating and cooling operations, project development, customer solutions in distributed production, heating-related and cooling-related service development and management and EHSQ.  

The New business and hydrogen business ensures Helen’s future competitiveness with systematic foresight and innovations generating new profitable business. This business encompasses new technologies, such as hydrogen, storage, CCUS and their monitoring and customer and market insights and RDI.   

Electricity distribution capacity is a key factor in trend of our society becoming increasingly electric and Helen Electricity Network Ltd is a crucial enabler in this. Helen Electricity Network Ltd significantly promotes the green transition through both network investments and services. 

The businesses will be supported by the following Group functions: Digital solutions, Strategy and M&A, Finance, Employee experience (HR, corporate security and premises), Sustainability and public affairs and Communications and brand.
