Terms of the contract - Fixed-term Basic Electricity
Summary of contract terms
- The contract is fixed-term and valid for the duration stated in the contract confirmation.
- The price of electricity is fixed for the duration of the contracting period.
- The specific price and validity information is stated in the contract confirmation.
- If the contract is terminated in violation of the contract terms, Helen Oy has the right to charge the customer a termination fee.
The electricity supplied under this contract is mixed electricity produced with renewable sources, nuclear power and fossil fuels in line with the Finnish production distribution.
1. VALIDITY AND TERMINATION OF THE CONTRACT
The Fixed-term Basic Electricity contract is valid for the duration stated in the contract confirmation. After that, if a new fixed-term period is not explicitly agreed upon, the contract will become valid until further notice, subject to contract terms and prices valid at any given time. In that case, the customer has the right to terminate the contract with a period of notice of fourteen (14) days.
If, during the fixed-price period, the metering point is changed due to the customer's relocation, for example, the transfer of the contract to the customer's new address is agreed upon.
A fixed-term contract cannot be terminated during its validity period.
The termination fee is determined based on the remaining duration of the contract at the time of termination. The fee takes into account the forecasted electricity consumption for the remaining contract period and the derivative price used as the basis for the hedging at the start of the contract, applied to the remaining period. The termination fee fully covers the electricity supplier’s remaining costs. In addition, a service fee related to the administrative work of the termination will be added. The price of the service fee related to contract termination valid at any given time can be found in the service price list (a link to the price list is available on the page General Terms and Conditions). The termination fee will be charged if the contract is terminated during its fixed term in violation of the electricity sales terms recommended by Finnish Energy (Energiateollisuus ry). The termination fee applies to contracts made on or after July 1, 2025.
2. PRICE OF ELECTRICITY
The price is valid for the fixed duration stated in the contract confirmation. The new prices to be applied to the contract after the fixed period are announced before the expiry of the fixed period.
The prices announced do not include electricity distribution.
3. AMENDMENTS TO CONTRACT TERMS AND PRICES
After the expiry of the fixed term, the electricity supplier may amend the terms of contract or the prices by informing the customer one (1) month before the amendment enters into force.
4. OTHER TERMS AND CONDITIONS
The contract is intended for consumers' permanent dwellings and secondary residences with a maximum main fuse of 3x63 A.
The contract shall enter into force on the start date indicated to Helen by the distribution system operator.
If the customer's valid fixed-term contract prevents the contract from entering into force on the desired date, the start of the new contract will be moved to the end of the current fixed-term contract, however, no more later than 90 days after the original preferred sales start date. Once the order has entered into force, the customer will be sent a notification of it by email.
Distribution system operator
With the customer’s authorisation, Helen terminates the customer’s current electricity contract and, if necessary, signs a new electricity network contract on the customer’s behalf.
The local distribution system operator shall be responsible for electricity distribution and metering, and issue invoices for these in accordance with its price list valid at any given time. Reports of disruptions or other issues related to the functioning of the electricity network shall be made to the local distribution system operator.
Taxes and public charges
The effects of changes in taxes, public charges and other comparable charges on electricity prices shall be taken into account immediately from their date of entry into force.
Applicable terms and conditions
The product-specific terms and conditions shall apply to this contract on a primary basis, with the general terms of electricity sales valid at any given time applied on a secondary basis. The general terms of electricity sales and the service price list valid at any given time are available at www.helen.fi/en/electricity/electricity-products-and-pr ices/price-lists-and-terms-of-contract. If there are differences in the different language versions of the terms, the Finnish version shall apply.

Cancellation right by virtue of the Consumer Protection Act
According to the Finnish Consumer Protection Act, the customer is entitled to cancel a new contract drawn up by means of distance communications within fourteen (14) days. The time limit for cancelling the contract ends after fourteen (14) days from drawing up the contract. In order to use the cancellation right, the customer must notify Helen [name, metering point address, metering point number and, if available, telephone number and email address] of their decision to cancel the contract in an unambiguous way (e.g. by sending a letter by post or by email). The customer may also use the cancellation form sent with the confirmation of contract, but it is not compulsory to use it. To comply with the time limit for cancellation, it is sufficient that the customer sends a notification on using the right to cancel before the end of the cancellation period.
Impacts of cancellation
Once Helen has received the cancellation notice, the contract becomes void. If the contract is drawn up in connection with a house move to start within fourteen (14) days (i.e. before the end of the cancellation period) at the specific request of the consumer, the consumer is obligated to pay the contract price for any electricity they have used before cancelling the contract.
