Estimated savings with electricity meter control: €135 per year
If the place of electricity use has Elenia’s load control enabled, which means that heating is controlled via the electricity meter, the estimated savings achieved with the Smart Fixed-term Savings Electricity contract amount to €135 per year.
The example has been calculated as follows: the annual electricity consumption of the house is 15,000 kWh, of which heating accounts for 9,000 kWh. The difference between the two energy prices under the contract is 1.5 cents per kWh. Electricity meter control shifts all heating to the lower-priced hours under the contract. The savings have been calculated using the formula 1.5 cents/kWh x 9,000 kWh = €135 per year
Estimated savings with Smart Control of Heat Pumps: €157 per year
In the example calculation, the main heat source of the home is a heat pump. The total electricity consumption of the home is 10,000 kWh, of which heating, i.e. the heat pump, accounts for 6,000 kWh. Estimated savings with Smart Control of Heat Pumps: €157 per year.
Smart Control of Heat Pumps optimises heating, reducing your heating-related electricity consumption by as much as 10% when the place of use is equipped with a ground source heat pump or air-to-water heat pump. You will also save money on your electricity distribution costs and electricity taxes. If the total price of electricity paid by the customer (electricity + distribution + taxes) is 14 cents per kWh, for example, the optimisation will yield annual savings of 6,000 kWh x 10% x €0.14/kWh = €84 per year.
In addition, smart control shifts an estimated 90% of heating-related electricity consumption to the lower-priced hours under the contract. When optimisation has reduced heating-related electricity consumption by 10%, consumption amounts to 5,400 kWh (6,000 kWh x 90%). In this case, the effect of shifting consumption to the lower-priced hours (1.5 cents per kWh) is 5,400 kWh x 90% x €0.015/kWh = €73 per year.
When Smart Control of Heat Pumps is used, an estimated 10% of savings is achieved through the optimisation of smart control, as smart control reduces excessive heating by taking into account the impact of the weather conditions on the indoor temperature of the home, as well as the building's ability to retain heat and the residents' living habits. With air source heat pumps, the heating-related electricity savings seen on the electricity bill are smaller because air source heat pumps have lower electricity consumption.
