Market Price Electricity – market-priced electricity for a monthly price
The price of a Market Price Electricity is made up of the basic charge and the energy fee.
The price of energy is determined according to the average closing price of the monthly products on the Nasdaq OMX Commodities power exchange for each month (such as, e.g. 15 April – 14 May), as well as on the basis of your electricity consumption, added by the margin per kWh and value added tax valid at any given time.
Nasdaq OMX Commodities power exchange trades in the longer term, i.e. the price of electricity is fixed to future periods. Read more about the Nasdaq OMX Commodities power exchange: http://www.nasdaqomx.com/commodities/market-prices
The basic charge of the electricity contract is a fixed monthly fee that is not dependent on the amount of electricity consumption. You can check the effective basic charge in your contract details, which is found in our Oma Helen service.
No need to monitor electricity prices at the hourly level
It is not necessary to monitor changes in electricity prices at the hourly level because the price of a Market Price Electricity contract is revised once a month. Therefore, the contract price remains constantly competitive.

Price determination in further detail
- The monthly energy cost for the Market Price Electricity product is determined by the quotations from the Nasdaq Commodities power exchange.
- Price determination principle (for example, June): The June price is reported to customers on 15 May. The price is determined on the basis of the closing rate of the month’s products for June during the period 15 April – 14 May, as well as the margin. The average value of the closing rates of the system price product (ENOAFUTBLMJUN) and the electricity price area differential product (SYHELAFUTBLMJUN) are added up, and the value added tax and margin valid at the time are added to the total (0.56 c/kWh, incl. VAT 24%).
- The new price for the next month is notified on the product page of Market Price Electricity on the 15th day of the current month or on the previous working day. In this respect, the calculation period of the average values of the closing rates changes accordingly.
- The margin is 2.99c/kWh as from 1 December 2022. Basic charge is €3.93/month. The prices include 24% value added tax. For the period 1 December 2022 – 30 April 2023, value added tax for electricity will be 10%, and according to the current price list our margin will be 2.65c/kWh and basic charge €3.49/month during this period.
