Helen sells its electric vehicle charging business
Helen and Plugit have agreed on an arrangement under which Helen’s electric vehicle charging business will be transferred to Plugit. The aim is to complete the arrangement during autumn 2026.
The arrangement supports Helen’s strategic goals of moving towards combustion-free energy production by focusing on the sales and production of heating, cooling and electricity, as well as on the implementation of a flexible energy system.
“The arrangement strengthens Helen’s focus on consumer and corporate customers in electricity retail sales. We are pleased that the electric vehicle charging business will be transferred to an owner with strong capabilities to develop the service over the long term and by listening to customers’ needs,” says Tuukka Toivonen, Director responsible for strategy and corporate arrangements at Helen.
“This acquisition is a significant strategic step for us. Helen’s charging business complements our network excellently and strengthens our position in the Helsinki metropolitan area, where demand for charging services is growing strongly. With the acquisition, we will be able to offer current and new customers an even more comprehensive charging network and a broader range of services than before,” says Johan Mild, CEO of Plugit.
The arrangement requires no action from customers, and the service will continue as normal. As part of the arrangement, the personnel of Helen’s electric vehicle charging business will transfer to Plugit as existing employees through a transfer of business. The parties have agreed that the price of the arrangement will not be disclosed.
