What is District Cooling?
District cooling enables comfortable temperatures all year round, even in the summer heat. There is no need to install heat pumps or condensing units using refrigerants in the property – this leaves space in the property for other use, the facade remains unchanged and the cooling does not cause noise. If necessary, the cooling capacity of district cooling can be flexibly increased without major alterations.
District cooling is mainly produced at the Katri Vala heat pump plant from carbon-neutrally treated wastewater, district cooling return water and certified carbon-neutral electricity.

Monthly cooling is a district cooling contract valid until further notice, and it provides reliable and easy assistance even on the hottest days of the summer. Monthly cooling is suitable for properties looking for reliable and hassle-free cooling without long and binding contracts.
The price of monthly cooling consists of a fixed fee and an energy fee based on energy price and consumption. Energy prices follow our public cooling price list, which is updated twice a year.

With growing cooling needs, the cooling output of District Cooling can be increased flexibly – you will have a higher cooling output without significant investment. - The property’s waste heat is utilised into carbon-neutral district heat
District cooling is produced with carbon-neutral energy sources, and it promotes a more efficient energy system when the surplus heat of the property is utilised into carbon-neutral district heat.

The pricing of Monthly Cooling consists of the energy fee and the fixed fee. The price lists of fixed fees and energy fees are updated twice a year.
Energy fee
The energy fee is determined by the monthly measured cooling energy consumption of the customer site and the energy price (€/MWh) of district cooling. The energy price and, correspondingly, the energy fee change every month. The energy fee is calculated by multiplying the measured cooling energy consumption by the price for the month in question.
The energy price list is updated twice a year and the changes take effect on 1 January and 1 July. The new prices will be announced one month before they enter into force. The price list update includes the confirmed price for the next six months and the price forecast for the six months following that period.
Fixed fee
The fixed fee is based on the contractual capacity of the customer site, which is specified in the district cooling contract. The fixed fee of €/year is obtained by multiplying the contractual capacity of the customer site by the fixed fee price list. The fixed fee is divided into monthly instalments and invoiced monthly.
The fixed fee price list is updated twice a year and the changes take effect on 1 January and 1 July. The new prices will be announced one month before they enter into force.
