Terms of contract – Switch Protection
Summary of contract terms
- The contract is fixed-term and valid for the duration of the electricity contract to which Switch Protection is attached, or until the customer uses the right to switch electricity contract.
- The price of the additional service is fixed for the duration of the contracting period.
- The specific price and validity information of the Switch Protection additional service is stated in the contract confirmation.
Switch Protection is an additional service that can be attached to a fixed-term electricity contract. It grants the right to switch the fixed-term electricity contract to a new contract of at least the same duration during the fixed-term contracting period, for example when the prices of fixed-term electricity contracts decrease. Without Switch Protection, the price of a fixed-term electricity contract remains the same for the entire contracting period.
1. Duration and termination of the contract
The Switch Protection additional service contract is valid for the duration stated in the contract confirmation or until the customer uses the right to switch the contract with Switch Protection and the contract to which Switch Protection is attached ends. The Switch Protection additional service cannot be terminated during the fixed-term contract period.
2. Price of the additional service and application of data in invoicing
The price of the Switch Protection additional service is invoiced in connection with the electricity bill for the entire fixed-term contracting period if the customer does not use the right to switch the contract. If the customer switches the contract using Switch Protection, the price of Switch Protection is invoiced until the original contract to which Switch Protection was attached ends and the new contract begins.
3. Other terms and conditions
The Switch Protection additional service is intended for consumer customers. Switch Protection can be attached to a fixed-term electricity contract only at the time the contract is made.
Switch Protection entitles the customer to make a new fixed-term electricity contract with Helen Oy once during the fixed-term contract period, at the prices valid at any given time, which can be found at www.helen.fi/en/electricity/electricity-products-and-prices. Switch Protection does not entitle the customer to switch to specially priced contracts.
Switch Protection entitles the customer to switch a fixed-term electricity contract to a new contract with a duration at least equal to the original contract to which Switch Protection was attached. Switch Protection entitles the customer to switch the contract once the electricity contract and the attached Switch Protection additional service are in force and electricity delivery has begun. When the customer switches the contract using Switch Protection, the new contract is valid for the period stated in the contract confirmation of the new contract. For example, if the customer switches a 24‑month fixed-term contract to a new 24‑month fixed-term contract using Switch Protection, the new contract will be valid for a 24‑month period.
When the customer uses the right to switch the electricity contract with Switch Protection, the customer’s fixed-term electricity contract and the attached Switch Protection additional service end, and the new electricity contract begins. If the customer cancels this new contract, the original contract and the attached Switch Protection additional service will be reinstated.
Switch Protection is a contract-specific additional service and it does not transfer to the new contract when the customer switches contract using Switch Protection. It may be possible to purchase a new Switch Protection additional service for the new contract at the time the new contract is made, in accordance with the product selection available at that time. If the metering point of the contract to which Switch Protection is attached changes, for example due to the customer’s relocation, the transfer of the contract and the attached Switch Protection additional service to the customer’s new address is agreed upon.
The Switch Protection additional service is intended for a metering point with a maximum annual electricity consumption of 50,000 kWh. Helen has the right to terminate the contract concerning the Switch Protection additional service if the annual consumption in the metering point exceeds (or it is evident that it will exceed) the limit of 50,000 kWh.
