Switch Protection
With Switch Protection, you can switch your fixed-term electricity contract to another contract of the same duration during your contract period — for example, if the prices of fixed-term contracts decrease or your needs change.

Switch Protection gives you flexibility for your fixed-term electricity contract in case your needs change or the prices of electricity contracts fall. By adding Switch Protection to your contract, you get the right to switch to another fixed-term contract of the same duration during the contract period.
Switch Protection is contract-specific and valid for the duration of the contract period of your fixed-term contract, or until you decide to use the option to switch contracts. The price of Switch Protection consists of a basic fee (€/month) and a cent/kWh price according to your consumption.
How does Switch Protection work?
If you have elected to add Switch Protection to your fixed-term contract, you can easily use your option to switch contracts by following the instructions below.
- Click "Use Switch Protection" in Oma Helen or on this page
The easiest way to switch your contract is via Helen’s digital channels. You can find your Switch Protection under your contract details in Oma Helen, or you can click the "Use Switch Protection" button on this page. - Select the contract to which you want to switch from your current contract
On the page that opens, you will see all of the fixed-term electricity contracts to which you can switch from your current contract. Please note that the new contract you select will be valid for 24 months from the date it enters into effect. You can set your contract to start in three (3) days at the earliest. - Proceed to purchase after selecting your new contract
The page will guide you through the process of purchasing of a new contract. Remember to include any additional services you want, such as renewable or carbon free! - Add Switch Protection to your new contract if you wish to have it
Your current Switch Protection will automatically end with your old contract when you switch to a different contract. If you want to have Switch Protection for your new contract, make sure to select it when you are making the switch. - All done!
Your new fixed-term electricity contract will enter into effect on the date of your choosing.
Switch Protection is an additional service for your fixed-term electricity contract — by adding Switch Protection to your 24-month fixed-term contract, you ensure that you have the right to switch from your contract to another fixed-term contract of the same duration during your contract period. This need may arise, for example, when the prices of fixed-term electricity contracts decrease significantly, or your needs related to your electricity contract change.
Switch Protection is valid for the entire duration of the contract period of your fixed-term contract, and you cannot terminate the additional service during a fixed-term contract period.
Without Switch Protection, the price of your fixed-term contract will remain the same throughout the contract period, and you can only switch to another contract when the contract period ends.
You can add Switch Protection to your contract when signing a new 24-month fixed-term electricity contract. Please note that Switch Protection cannot be added to a contract after it has been signed.
You can use Switch Protection at any time during your fixed-term contract period.
Switch Protection is intended for everyone who wishes to add protection and flexibility to their fixed-term electricity contract. Switch Protection is especially beneficial in the following situations:
- You want to test whether the fixed-term contract you have chosen is right for you. Switch Protection gives you peace of mind regarding your choice of contract.
- You want to ensure that you have the opportunity to switch to a different or cheaper fixed-term electricity contract from Helen during the contract period.
With Switch Protection, you can switch your electricity contract to a fixed-term contract with the same duration.
Switch Protection is currently available for Fixed-term Basic Electricity 24 months and Fixed-term Välkky Electricity 24 months contracts.

You can switch your 24-month fixed-term electricity contract to another electricity contract that has the same duration. When you switch your contract, your new electricity contract will be valid for 24 months from the date the new contract enters into effect. You can also buy Switch Protection for your new contract.
