More electricity produced with wind power to Helen from Suomen Hyötytuuli’s new wind farm

Helen’s electricity produced with wind power increases even further as Suomen Hyötytuuli Oy has made an investment decision to build Oosinselkä wind farm in Pori and its neighboring municipality Eurajoki. Oy Mankala Ab, a subsidiary owned by Helen, is one of the shareholders of Hytötytuuli and Mankala’s share of Oosinselkä wind farm is 25%.

The value of the investment is appr. 115 M€. The construction work will start in spring 2022 and the wind farm is expected to reach full operations year end 2023. The planned wind farm will consist of 15 turbines, with total production power of 93 MW. A turbine supply contract has been signed with Vestas for EnVentus V162-6.2 MW turbines. Negotiations on other contracts are ongoing.

We at Helen have actively continued to increase our own wind power production. In February, we informed that we had together with the Bank of Åland’s Wind Power Fund Non-UCITS, acquired Kalistanneva wind farm from the French independent green energy operator VALOREM. The wind farm will host 30 wind turbines with total installed capacity of 165 MW. Lakiakangas 3 wind park with 20 wind turbines started producing electricity in the beginning of this year and in December 2021 we announced that together with Fortum we will be building two wind farms with 56 wind turbines altogether to Närpiö and Kristiinankaupunki.

The investments are concrete steps towards our aim of being carbon neutral by 2030 and support our transition to carbon neutral energy production and to diversified energy system. Wind power is one of the ways we bring the new era in energy available for all.
